15. Despicable Me 2.

Synopsis
 
Despicable Me 2 is the follow-up to the smash-hit original with all the Minion action you could dream of. Gru (Steve Carell) is continuing to bring up his orphans, something that has brought out a softer side. So when he is recruited by the Anti Villain League to help eliminate a new villain with his insider knowledge of how a villain thinks, he’s all for it, especially as it means he will be let loose on a stash of brilliant new weapons. And with the Minions helping out, what could possibly go wrong? Despicable Me 2 is a visually brilliant return to the madness.

14. McDonalds drink advert.

 
 
Audience: Anyone getting a McDonald's or anyone passing the poster. any ages and gender. mostly young women who will get a drink together in the hotter weather.
Purpose: To advertise the new drinks McDonalds have introduced. Also to persuade them to buy the new drink.
Format: Poster for the drinks, it has a picture of the product on the poster this gives the customer a picture of what they are buying. By the picture of the drink there is also a picture of the fruit the drink contains this shows the healthy aspect of the drink and will be appealing to customers. The background of the poster has ice on it therefore links to the product reminding them of the refreshing drink and also makes the poster look interesting.
 
The poster uses a clever play on words when says 'ice to see you' this will get peoples attention and draw them to buy the drink. The colours used on the poster are quite summer therefore appealing for this time. Also as the drinks are contain ice this will appeal to people in the hotter weather.
 


13. Synopsis for One Direction movie.

Synopsis
One Direction: The Movie 3D is an intimate look into what goes on backstage and onstage on tour with the world’s favourite band. When Zayn, Niall, Liam, Louis and Harry take their Take Me Home tour on the road, you can bet there’s going to be no shortage of stunning stage performances, screaming fans and hilarious backstage moments (balancing towers of teacups on each other!) Format: The synopsis is a paragraph giving a brief description of the film. The website has a trailer of the film and also a still picture, this catching peoples attention and allowing them to see a snippet of the film to interest them so then they will go and see it.

The film is described as 'intimate' this implies that the film shows things about the boy band that people have never seen this is also implies as it says 'follow them'. Also the band are referred to as 'world famous' this intriguing people who don't know that much about the film or band to watch is as suggests it is a band worth knowing about.

Purpose: To entertain children choosing from the menu, to inform people about the menu and the food they offer
Format: Poster, using very bright colours and characters to appeal to young children.

The dishes use interesting language features such as fun names for each dish this making it more interesting and appealing to children eating there. Names such as 'cowboy' this makes the meals more fun to choose. Also various characters are printed on the poster to go with the meals this is also a feature that is attractive for children.

How has the gender of the audience influenced the text? The age group of the menu has a large influence on this text as is aimed at young children there for uses bright colours, characters and interesting names for the dishes. However the gender doesn't particularly have an influence on the text. The name of the dish 'spaceman' however may have an influence form a male gender as mostly boy like spacemen and sci-fi kind of films. Overall the gender has not influenced the text to a large.

11. Cinderella poster.

 

Audience: young children, typically girls, families.
purpose: To inform people about the show and who is the actors in the pantomime
Format: Poster, brightly colours with the characters of the show.

At the bottom of the poster humour is used 'the best ugly sister in 'pantoland' this is amusing for the reader as 'pantoland' doesn't exist however they are promising 'the best ugly sisters'

How has the gender of the audience influenced the text? The gender of the audience is most likely mostly girls and families, therefore the 'Cinderella' is written in pink swirly writing with a star on the 'i' of the word this being girly an therefore appealing to girls. The back ground of the poster is blue and has stars all over its from the Cinderella on the right, this also may be influenced by the female audience as girls will be drawn to it by the Cinderella picture.

How has technology influenced this text? technology has allowed the poster to have so many images and the design of the Cinderella on it. this is key as allows it to stand out and be noticed by young children and people passing by.

10. Krave cereal advert (spoken language)

Audience: Children or teenagers, anyone who enjoys cereal, but the chocolate part of the cereal appeals more to children.
 Purpose: To inform people of the cereal, to attract the attention of children to then persuade there parent to buy it.
 Format: Tv advert, quick catchy to stick in people head. Krave character on the advert to attracts children's attention.

The start of the advert makes the cereal sound special as is a 'new breed' also by using the word 'unleashed' is portrays krave as a danger cereal. the krave character featured on the advert is appealing to children as is entertaining and funny. Also the image of the chocolate and the krave character eating all the chocolate explains what inside the krave and also attracts children sweet side. The voice over for the advert is entertaining and different using humour to persade customer to buy the cereal.

How has the gender of the audience influenced the text/ advert? the voice over is male therefore maybe be an influence from a male audience, also the advert portrays the krave character as male as is wearing a chocolate cape this may be the influence of a male audience and boy tends to like capes as link to batman and other characters.

9. Yorkie chocolate bar.



Audience: Men and woman, even though it says 'only for men' its saying to woman you'll want to be a man just to get one
Purpose: To persuade people to buy the chocolate bar. Also to entertain people with the funny concept that only men can eat it.
Format: The chocolate has a unique format as it claims 'ITS NOT FOR GIRLS!' this is written in capitals so stands out on the packed. Also in the word Yorkie there is a picture of a women with a cross through it.

The chocolate bar provides a chunkier alternative the Cadburys slimmed down dairy milk and therefore is typically for men. This is clever in saying that it is 'not for girls' as has got itself well known to women who see it as too absurd and funny to ignore therefore purchasing it. This sexist chocolate bar is too interesting and unique to pass by and therefore attract both genders and all ages. The nestle chocolate bar 'ITS NOT FOR GIRLS' slogan has seized the attention of the public eye and got everyone talking about the 'men's' chocolate bar.

How has technology influenced this text? Technology has allowed the Yorkie to be famous for 'ITS NOT FOR GIRLS' slogan. Its has made it able to be printed on the packaging in bold and capitals, to be very noticeable. Also technology and design has been able to print the no girls road sign replacing the 'O' in the word Yorkie, also supporting its feminist humour.

How has he gender of the audience influenced the text? The gender of the target audience has hugely influenced the text on the packaging. As even thought aimed at anyone the idea that it is just for men has completely influenced the packaging as clearly stating 'ITS NOT FOR GIRLS' this has worked as many men do purchase the chocolate bar however also appeals to women as is so sexist and hilarious. Also the blue packaging has been influenced by the manly audience.



8. Crisp packet.

 
 
Audience: Anyone who like crisps, people who care for the environment as the packet is '100% compostable'.
Purpose: To persuade people to buy these crisps.
Format: The name of the crisps is in large bold letters 'sun chips' so it stands out to people passing and is easy to read. The company want to get the message across that they care for the environment so have written '100% compostable' in white so it stand out on the green background.


The packet uses interesting features when claiming its 'worlds first 100% compostable chip package' using the statistic of 100% will persuade people to buy the product as they will feel good about them selves buying it as is compostable. this is written in white writing to stand out to customers from other chips. Also this compostable factor gives the company a unique selling point so therefore they want to make it known and our proud of it. A picture of the chips is displayed on the bottom of the packet this showing the customer what the product looks like aslo a picture of wheat is displayed suggesting the chips are healthy and made from wheat.

How has technology influenced this text? technology has allowed the packaging of the design to be colourful and attract customers. Also has made it possible for the green banner at the top with the bold writing on.

7. Kids cinema banner and page.




Audience: Parent who are interested in taking their children to the cinema, kids who are looking on the Internet for films. Children who are quite young as the films are all U and PG so therefore wouldn't interest any older people also as the offer only stand Saturday and Sunday morning.
Purpose: To inform people about this offer you can get for your children. To persuade parents to take there children to watch a film ' from only £1.75
Format: The banner for this page is in bright green. This is colourful for children and also draws attention to the offer it is promoting. The sun over the AM adds a interesting and unique feature to the logo also making it fun. 'Kids AM' is also incorporated cleverly into the sentence ' keep the kids AMUSED'

'AMUSED' is written in capital letter to stand out for the parent interesting them as they will want something to do on the weekends with there children. Also 'FROM ONLY £1.75' is written unable to miss on the right which will be very appealing to parents who want something cheap and entertaining to do on the weekends.

6. Boardmasters poster.

 
Audience: People who enjoy music events ages from 16+ of any gender, also people who are fans of the musicians mentioned on the front of the poster. People who surf may also be a target audience as the event is a surf and music festival and the background of the leaflet may get there attention.
Purpose: To inform people of this event upcoming, the people that are performing and the details. Also to persuade people to get tickets for this festival.
Format: 'Boardmasters' is printed in large bold letter this being the first thing people will notice. The background of the poster is waves with a surf board and guitar on the side, this represents the festival and what its about- music and surfing. The main feature on the poster is the acts that will be at the festival. These are the most important things so have to be clear to people. The large acts that are headlining are written in  large letters of different fonts for each band this will be eye catching as will make the band easy recognisable. The poster has many colours so that it will stand out on bill boards and when people pass by will look appealing.
 
On the poster word play is used as at the top it says ' first wave of acts announced' linking the surf part of the festival to announcing the acts.This also implies that there is more acts to come and this is just the start of it, this will intrigue people into wanting to know what other acts and performing and keep them interested.

The poster features a surf board as is also a surf festival this may be influenced by a male audience however female surf too therefore isn't influenced by a gender. The acts lined up for the festival and printed on the poster could have been influenced by a gender as many of the bands and not typical female bands such as boy bands and music appealing to just girls. However again the gender hasn't largely been influenced by a gender as the festival and musicians appeal to anyone.

5. Magazine cover.

 
 
Audience: People who are Cheryl Cole fans as her picture I used on the cover, usually females, people who are into fashion and celebrities. Ages from 16+ would be the audience for this type if magazine.
Purpose: To entertain people with the stories about celebrities and the latest fashion trends.  
Format: Magazine which uses many pictures on the front cover to catch readers eye. The picture of Cheryl Cole is printed largely to attract fans and readers.  Bold fonts are used also to make the magazine attractive to people passing by. Bright colours are used to make the magazine attractive and stand out.
 
The magazine uses a picture of the celebrity Cheryl Cole as a way of making people purchase and read it. This will make it appealing to fans or people who are interest in Cheryl. Also the quote used on the front of the magazine 'I couldn't cope with her bizarre behaviour' will gain the interest of people passing making this story inside seem dramatic and worth reading.

4. Nemesis- the ride.

We've flipped the rollercoaster on its head with this mad inverted Hell ride into the fiery pit of a volcano!

Purpose: To inform people about the ride showing pictures of it and outlining the rules and restrictions of the ride. Also persuade them to visit Thorpe park and go on the ride. People can also look of reviews of the ride to see other peoples thoughts on it in hope it will encourage them to visit.
Format: Big bold writing is used for the title of the ride in a eye catching font. Also questions are being used to try and persuade people to go on the ride.

Also the fire aspect of the ride would be influenced by a male audience and they would look for extreme rides.

3. Breif summary of " The Conjuring".

 
Synopsis
The Conjuring is a terrifying ‘ghost-invasion’ movie from the director of Saw and Insidious. Ed (Patrick Wilson) and Lorraine Warren (Vera Farmiga) are real life ‘ghost hunters’, though they’re not too keen on that description. Their most terrifying case, one they have never spoken about before, was the Perron family whose home in Rhode Island was being terrorised by particularly nasty spirits. Can the Warrens deal with an evil witch? And will the whole experience take a deadly toll on psychic Lorraine? The Conjuring is a truly terrifying experience all the worse for its being based on real events.

Also to make people aware of what age group it is aimed at and suitable for by using words to describe the film such as 'terrifying ghost invasion'.
Format: A picture of the film is used above this text along with the trailer, allowing people to have a sneak peak of the film. this attracts peoples attention with the use of pictures and a trailer. In the text quotes and powerful adjectives are used to interest people.
 
In the paragraph it mentions the film is from the director ' of saw and insidious' this is a selling point for the film as will attract viewers that have seen and enjoyed saw or/and insidious. Also a  rhetorical question is included 'can the warrens deal with an evil which?' this will get people intrigued about what will happen. The use of adjectives will interest people, 'terrifying' is used repeatedly when describing the film this attract an audience who enjoy scary films.

The use of the trailer and still picture is a great example of how technology is used to gain peoples interests for the film and attract people as allows them to get an idea of what the films about. 2. John Green book.

Audience: Any age apart from very young, the book in my opinion is suited for teenagers. Can be for any gender however is tailored mostly for girls.
Purpose: The purpose of the front cover is to grab peoples attention in hope they will purchase the book. The back of the book is designed to inform people of what the book is a bout yet leave them wanting to find out more. Also on the book is shown that it is "#1 new York times best seller" this displayed on purpose to attract readers and to persuade them to read.
Format: The front cover is bright and bold standing out and catching attention. The font is unique and looks hand written adding to the look. The award the book has won is in bright yellow and eye catching colour used to make people read it.

On the front of the book powerful adjectives are used to describe the book, these are also capitalised which will stand out to the reader gaining there attention. On the back also is bold adjectives describing the book used in a list "NSIGHTFUL, BOLD, IRRELEVANT AND RAW" This technique will allow the words to stand out and stick in someone's mind while also persuading them to read the book as such powerful words used to describe the story.

Has the gender of the audience influenced the text? Although not aimed at a particular gender however more popular with females does influence the text slightly,"tragic business of alive and in love" appeals more to girls as boys wouldn't normally read a tragic love story.

Audience: Children of a young age who are interested in Thomas Land and parents who are looking to take there children. Attracts an audience of  perhaps in particular boys as is trains aimed towards young boys. Also to people with access to the internet as is a website online.
Purpose: To advertise the new  'Winston ride' new to Dayton Manor and to inform parents of the 'multi-million pound attraction promising fun and adventure' which will persuade them to visit with there children. The text on the picture is written to gain attention of potential customers and children with the exciting colours and large text stating that ride is one of a kind as is 'only as Thomas Land.
 Format: The bright colours and bold font on the picture is very eye catching and will attract children's attention. 'NEW' in large letters will draw attention to the picture and make it stand out from the other rides. The name of the new ride will appeal to Thomas fans who like the trains. Also the picture will allow people to know what the new ride is without having to read on.
